We hope you are all having a wonderful and well-deserved break. As it is half way through the summer holidays, you might be running out of fun ideas to keep you and your family entertained. So, we have gathered a few local schemes to share with you!

Free Cycle Training

Derbyshire County Council have created an amazing opportunity called the ‘County Rider Scheme’. So, people who live, work or study in Derbyshire can get free one-to-one cycle training, to people aged 18 or over. It is really easy for you to apply, you can just do it through the Derbyshire County Council website. (See link below). The County Rider scheme offers up to 4 training sessions and each one can last up to 2 hours. This will be dependent on your instructor’s assessment of your skill level and what you want to achieve. Summer Reading Challenge

If you have children, this scheme might be perfect for you! Derbyshire County Council are doing a summer reading challenge for children aged between 4 and 11. The challenge is to read 6 or more library books over the summer. For each book they read, they get a sticker and once they have read them all, they will get a medal and certificate! You can join the local library or you can sign up online.

The theme this year is ‘sports and games’ and some amazing libraries are running different sports games and events that you and your children can get involved with! You can find your local library with the link below and check out which different sports games and events are happening in which library in your area. You can also find more information at the Summer Reading Challenge website. Please find the links below.
