Lumsdale Valley and Ruins
A beautiful walk through the Lumsdale Valley in Matlock, open from 9am to 8pm. The mills and associated water management features form one of the best examples of a water-powered industrial archaeological site in Britain.
Matlock Bath Aquarium and Hologram Gallery
This wonderful aquarium is located in a Victorian building in the centre of Matlock Bath, and houses over 50 species of fish. This is also the home of one of the largest public displays of Holograms in Europe! £3.50 donation entry. Click here to find out more.
Hall Leys Park Matlock
Located in the centre of Matlock, why not spend some time outdoors in Hall Leys Park? With bowling greens, tennis courts, a skateboard park, a children’s play area, free Wi-Fi and a miniature railway, there’s plenty to do at the park.
Tramway Village Crich
The National Tramway Museum, located in Crich, allows you to take a trip back in time and even ride vintage trams into the open countryside. There’s also a Woodland Walk and Sculpture Trail, pub, gift shop, children’s play area, exhibitions and Workshop Viewing Gallery. Click here to find out more.
Plague Village and Museum Eyam
An educational trip to Eyam Museum will teach your children all about the Bubonic Plague in the Peak District village from 1665-1666. Learn about the black rats, the fleas carrying the disease, and the stories of the families the plague affected. Click here to find out more.
Youlgreave Wild Swimming
Just a ten minute drive from Bakewell, you can find the village of Youlgreave which sits between the River Bradford and the River Lathkill. The former is a designated swimming area that has been carved out of the rock along the river.
Monsal Trail Bakewell
Located to the rear of Hassop Station is the Monsal Trail. Head along the spectacular trail over viaducts and through well-lit tunnels. The trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles. Cycle hire centres servicing the trail can be found at Hassop Station and Blackwell Mill.
Cromford Steam Rally – 3rd – 4th August
The number one Steam Rally in Derbyshire takes place from the 3rd – 4th August, showcasing the very best in Cromford’s steam, transport and leisure industries. From Professor Paul Temple’s Punch and Judy to On-The-Beat Classic Cars, Cromford Stream Rally is a great day out for the whole family! 10yrs and under go free! Book your tickets here.
Ashbourne Show – 17th August
With a wide range of show exhibitors and shopping options, Ashbourne Show is a fun-filled family day out! Tickets purchased ahead of time are £14 for adults and £5 for children aged five-15. Book your tickets here.
Heights of Abraham – Punch and Judy Anniversary Spectacular – July 20th – September 1st
With three shows a day, every day from July 20th to September 1st, the Punch and Judy Anniversary Special is a true high-water mark in the works of puppetry and entertainment. Book your cable car tickets here.
